This wide handle is designed for the 200A lantern. When using a large glass, it prevents the handle from hitting the glass when lowered, which could cause the glass to break. The 200A is a common COLEMAN lamp and is a must-have for most lantern enthusiasts, including myself—200A was my first vapor lamp. Later on, many modification kits were introduced, including large glass covers, but the original handle would hit the glass when lowered. This could lead to two issues: 1) The glass may break due to temperature differences caused by the handle. 2) The handle may press against the glass when stored, causing it to crack. The wide handle was designed to avoid these problems.
It can also be used with the Optimus 930.
